GALA NIGHTS

When during the edition of the Carnival 2002 we thought for the first time about a night with a charity aim, we chosen a palace that certainly is a recognised symbol of Venice: Palazzo Labia. The noble architecture and the magnificent frescos of Gian Battista Tiepolo that decorate it, they make of it one of the most precious gems of the city. Thank to the sensitiveness and disposability of RAI Managers, society that owns that building, we were allowed to use the wonderful rooms of the noble floor and we were able to organise a special event that for its charity aim it was different than any other Venetian carnival event. The high attendance of our Members and, mostly the indispensable help of our sponsors, encouraged us to go on organising new and next nights.
The first and the second edition had as beneficiary of the donation the Raina Kabaivanska Institution, that helps and promotes musical studies of young, talent Bulgarian students. The famous soprano, gave us an example of her excellent art singing for us, into the first edition, an unforgettable opera repertoire.
In the second edition, the baroque arias concert, was made from the excellent countertenor Angelo Manzotti, that was later supported by Kabaivanska herself and by one of her pupil, Elisabetta Martirosian, for singing all together in a sweeping triplet.
In the 2004 edition our interest about charity donation went to UNICEF and in a particular mode to a program that had to help the Ethiopia and Eritrea's children to frequent the schools and to be vaccinated.
The night was gladdened from a vivacious concert of operetta famous arias, realised in an excellent mode by masters in their speciality as: Daniela Mazzuccato and Max Renè Casotti.
The next edition, for changing, will be in favour of FAI, Italian environment Fund, that as the English National Trust, it attends to restoration and preservation of artistic and environment goods. This association, that in 2005 will be 30 years old, carries on a precious activity of acquisition, rescue and protection of art works, monuments and territorial areas, so that they can be presented from the collapse and handed down to posterity in their integrity and splendour. Therefore we hope that in the next edition of the 22nd of February too, a warm success will smile on, sustained from the enthusiasm of the members and friends, that will want to spend a night at the Venice carnival, not only for seeking a pure enjoyment, but also for something socially useful.
